Scholarship Elk Rapids Endowment

A scholarship fund for Elk Rapids High School students

What is now the Elk Rapids Scholarship Endowment at the Community Foundation originated in 1979 and was funded over a number of years by the Elk Rapids Rotary Club.

Contributions were made as memorial scholarships for Dr. Green, George and Barbara Wonacott, Ivan Hubbel and Eugene Davis. The Scholarships were awarded in the name of these individuals on a rotating basis.

The Fund grew and contributions became much more community wide. In 1994, the fund became and Endowment at the Community Foundation, with an advisory committee of local citizens.

In 1997, the Elk Rapids 100 Club Scholarship Fund merged with the Elk Rapids Scholarship Endowment Fund. Since that time, in addition to contributions from the community, major contributions were received from the estates of Fred and Gertrude Johnson and from Norm and Marjory Veliquette.
