Scholarship Helen and Dale Cropsey Endowment

The Helen and Dale Cropsey Scholarship Fund of the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation was established by Helen and Dale Cropsey of Suttons Bay.

Dale Cropsey (MSU '40) and Helen Cropsey (MSU '46) met while students at Michigan State University. At the time of Helen's unexpected death in November 1997, they had been together for 59 years.

Dale and Helen Cropsey wanted this scholarship to assist students from Suttons Bay in furthering their education.

Basic Scholarship Requirements:

  • Applicants must be a resident of Suttons Bay or the Bingham area
  • Applicants must be attending or planning to attend an accredited post secondary educational institution in the state of Michigan
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need
  • Applicants must maintain a "B" average
  • Applicants must attend church in the Suttons Bay or Bingham area

Priority Criteria:

  • Attending or planning to attend Michigan State University
  • Attend Immanuel Lutheran Church
  • Attend First Lutheran Church

PLEASE NOTE: All applications received will be considered and reviewed using a scoring rubric. Though priority will be given to applicants that meet the priority criteria listed, these may not be the sole determining factor in the selection of a recipient. ALL students that meet the basic requirements are encouraged to apply.

Previous recipients may reapply. The award is planned to be $1200 per year.
