Leave a Lasting Impression.  Here's How.
John N. Barnes Environmental Education Endowment

In his 24 years of life, John expressed his passion for the outdoors and beauty of Benzie County.

The endowment in his memory was established in 1993, allowing his spirit to live on through grants supporting environmental education in Benzie County communities and preserving his passion for generations to come.

posted December 13, 2016

Earlier this year, our Board provided funding to launch Endowments designed to support organizations, programs, and services within each of the five counties in our region. These county-based endowments create localized giving opportunities to support a long-term resource that will impact broad community needs and interests now and for generations to come.

As you consider your 2016 giving options, we encourage you to think about giving to the Community Foundation Endowment designated to benefit the County in which you live, work, or play. Additionally, we will match gifts of up to $250.

Over the last two years, we have been focused on our vision for an exemplary philanthropic region supporting strong, vibrant, and healthy communities now and for generations to come. Within that, we are committed to our role as the local giving partner for lasting community impact. These county-based endowments align with our Board’s commitment and its effort to strategically and intentionally focus on our local communities throughout the five-county region.

We see this focus come to life across all areas of our organization. We see it come to life in the county-by-county work of the youth in our Youth Advisory Council, in our grantmaking and the way we aim to leverage positive impact in all of our communities, and in our community and donor relations across our region. And now, we look forward to seeing this come to life through giving and granting from our county-based endowments.

Thank you for giving, for your generosity to the causes you are passionate about, and for your partnership for the benefit of our communities.
