Steve Wade, Vice President of Community Impact

Biography

Originally from West Virginia, Steve and his wife, Linda moved to the Northwest Michigan in the spring of 2000. Before coming to Michigan, Steve earned a degree in Social Work and worked in a variety of fields including direct service social work, nonprofit administration, and as a lobbyist. Since moving to the region, Steve has worked at Grace Episcopal Church in Traverse City and later as the Executive Director of the United Way of Northwest Michigan.

In 2013, Steve joined the Community Foundation and worked with donor partners, their advisors, and community partners to seek solutions to macro and micro level issues. Steve now focuses his attention on developing a process for awarding grants that will have transformative, long-term impact on communities across the five-county region. Steve and Linda have three children.

"I love our towns. In each community I enjoy watching people as they work and play. Each town has its own personality that seems to reflect that of the people who live there. It's a treat to observe and share in what makes each place unique."
