Nominations Sought for 2020 Kalkaska Business and Citizen of the Year

Nominations are now being accepted for the Kalkaska Citizen and Business of the Year Awards, a 50-year tradition honoring a local resident and business for their civic involvement.

The award winners will be honored at the 2020 Kalkaska Annual Luncheon on Wednesday, April 22 from 11:30 am – 1 pm. This year’s luncheon is hosted by the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation and being held at the new Mill Pond Event Center. Tickets are available on EventBrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2020-kalkaska-annual-luncheon-registration-94888364653.

In addition to recognizing and honoring the Kalkaska Business and Citizen of the Year, event proceeds will support the Endowment for Kalkaska Area at the Community Foundation.

“This endowment supports the Kalkaska community and grants are decided by our Kalkaska Board Directors. It’s a local giving option with local decision-makers maximizing local impact,” said Alison Metiva, vice-president strategic engagement and programs at the Community Foundation.

Grants from the Endowment in the past have supported the Kalkaska Conservation District, KAIR, the Commission on Aging, Blessings in a Backpack, and, most recently, the expansion of Norte into Kalkaska.

The 2020 Kalkaska Annual Luncheon is being supported by presenting sponsor, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.
