Traverse City Track Club Grant and Scholarship Applications Now Open
The Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation is now accepting applications for the Traverse City Track Club’s (TCTC) spring grant cycle and academic-year scholarships. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2021 and is open to applicants from Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau Counties.
“We appreciate that the TCTC has entrusted us with their scholarship and grant endowment to support student runners and nonprofit organizations across our region,” said Brittany Morton, operations and grants coordinator at the Community Foundation.
The TCTC grant cycle is available to nonprofit organizations whose programs or projects align with the TCTC’s mission of encouraging running and walking as a means to promote health, enhanced fitness, family recreation, and competition for all. TCTC grant recipients may receive funding to support cross country programs, track running events/programs, running/walking programs, and/or charitable giving related to running/walking.
The TCTC scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors or current college students from across the five-county region who are running athletes or have participated in organized running events. Selected TCTC scholarship recipients can receive between $500 to $2,000 to pursue higher education at colleges and universities, ranging from community college to graduate school.
“We are grateful for the many ways TCTC can give back to, and interact with our community and are thankful to be part of a community that supports our events such as the Bayshore Marathon,” said Janice Beyer, president of Traverse City Track Club. “Our successful events like the Bayshore enable us to play a key role in the growth of our active community, and it is a privilege and responsibility we take very seriously.”
Since the TCTC’s Charitable and Scholarship Gifts Program launched in 2007, over $2 million has been awarded across the five-county region.
