At the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation there are more than 60 scholarship funds dedicated to post secondary education. 

Scholarship Funds typically begin accepting applications in February with deadline dates in March and April. Please scroll through scholarship list for specific dates for each Fund, if they are known.

Jack Edward Allen Memorial Scholarship
February 18 - April 2, 2008
Grand Traverse County
Available to graduating seniors from a Traverse City High School (Central, West, St. Francis, TC Christian) and who have attained the Eagle Scout ranking from the Boy Scouts of America and are planning to attend college or a technical program. 

Barney and Renie Barber Trade Scholarship Fund
March 3 - April 15, 2008
Kalkaska and Antrim County
Available to graduating seniors from Kalkaska or Mancelona High Schools who are planning to attend a vocational or trade school to pursue a program related to the building trade. 

Bellaire School Scholarship Fund
March 6 - April 15, 2008
Antrim County
Scholarships are available for seniors graduating from Bellaire High School who are planning to attend Michigan State University and/or are a student athlete or art student.

Benzie Central Science Scholarship
Not Currently Available
Benzie County
Available to graduating students from Benzie Central High School who plan to pursue higher education in the science field and are in need of financial assistance. Applicants must have shown an expressed interest in science and have also excelled in the field.

Joe Brisson Memorial Scholarship
February 18 - April 2, 2008
Regional
Intended for students from Traverse City High Schools or for students who live within the five counties of Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau and have played in a soccer league, whether school or community related, and have an avid passion for soccer and life.

Kalee Bruce Memorial Scholarship
March 1 - April 15, 2008
Benzie County
Available to graduating seniors from Benzie or Frankfort High Schools who are planning to pursue post secondary education.

Buckley Schools Marie Guyton Scholarship
February 27 - April 15, 2008
Grand Traverse County
Three scholarships will be awarded each year to seniors at Buckley Community Schools planning to attend an accredited college, university or trade school. The Marie Guyton Valedictorian Scholarship, Eleanor Smith Salutatorian Scholarship, and Marie Guyton Leadership Scholarship. No application will be necessary for students to qualify for the Marie Guyton Valedictorian and Eleanor Smith Salutatorian scholarships, as the scholarships will be awarded to the valedictorian and salutatorian of each senior class at Buckley Community Schools. The Marie Guyton Leadership Scholarship application will be available each spring.

Camp Roy-El Scholarship
February 1 - March 28, 2008
Grand Traverse County
Available to juniors and seniors currently completing undergraduate degrees at Michigan based colleges and universities with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Applicants must be pursuing a profession dedicated to working with persons with disabilities. Possible fields may include allied health, nursing, medicine, occupational therapy and physical therapy or students in social work and special education. Previous applicants are eligible to apply again.

Central Lake School District Educational Fund/Osborne Scholarship
Not Currently Available
Antrim County
Provide flexible funds to support non-operational educational opportunities for the Central Lake School district area residents outside of the public school and/or with the public school system. These opportunities may include educational programs; scholarships; technology and arts equipment needed for classroom activities; and mini grants to support teachers.

Suzanne Cline-Walthour Memorial Scholarship
February 27 - March 28, 2008
Antrim County
Available to graduating seniors from Elk Rapids High School with preference for, but not limited to, students planning to pursue an elementary education degree or planning to attend Ferris State.

Helen and Dale Cropsey Educational Endowment
March 10 - April 15, 2008
Leelanau County
Applicants must be a resident of Suttons Bay or the Bingham area, be attending an accredited post secondary educational institution in the state of Michigan, and must demonstrate financial need. Priority will be given to students who are planning to attend Michigan State University and who attend Immanuel Lutheran Church or First Lutheran Church, though any graduating senior attending church in Suttons Bay is encouraged to apply.

Miss Elk Rapids Scholarship Fund

Gene’s Auto Parts Scholarship for the GT Academy

Grand Traverse County
Available to graduating seniors from Grand Traverse Academy pursuing a post-secondary education (including trade and vocational schools).

Peter James Gorno Scholarship Fund
Caro: February 18 - March 14, 2008
Elk Rapids: February 27 - March 28, 2008
Antrim County and Caro, MI
Available to one graduating senior from Elk Rapids High School and one graduating senior from Caro High School who are pursing a post-secondary education.

Home Builders' Association of the GT Area Scholarship
February 18 - April 1, 2008
Regional
Available to area residents pursuing continuing education in the building trades.

Bennie M. Kline Scholarship Fund
February 27 - March 28, 2008
Antrim County
Available to Elk Rapids seniors who are pursuing advanced educational training at a trade school. Renewing students given priority if making satisfactory progress.

Arthur F. Lederle Memorial Scholarship
Grand Traverse County
Available for Traverse City Central High School students. The award is intended for one student to be provided for all four years at an accredited educational institution, and then any post graduate work the student decides to pursue. The recipient should be chosen based on demonstrated leadership skills and financial need. Applicants apply through the Traverse City Central High School Scholarship ApplicationAward not available in 2008.

Mancelona Rotary Business Scholarship
February 25 - April 15, 2008
Antrim County
Available to graduating seniors from Mancelona High School who are planning to pursue a post secondary education in business, entrepreneurship, or accounting.

Otho Mathias Scholarship Fund
February 25 - April 15, 2008
Antrim County
Available to a Mancelona High School graduating senior pursuing a degree in education.

Medical Care Facilities Council Scholarship Fund
March 3 - April 15, 2008
Regional
For students who, or for students whose parents, are employed at member medical care facilities.

Susan R. Pavelka Memorial Scholarship
Grand Traverse County
Available to students of Traverse City High School who will be attending an accredited post secondary educational institution and have demonstrated financial need.

Riopelle/Dowden Technical Scholarship Fund
February 27 - April 15, 2008
Regional
Available to students from the five county area that are planning to attend any accredited post-secondary institution full or part-time for an associate of Arts or Science degree or a certificate program or registered apprenticeship program.

Marvin and Luella Rorick and Richard and Clarine Olson Scholarship for students at the Northwestern Michigan College University Center who are pursing a degree in the human services field, including social work, nursing, family life, etc.

USS Indianapolis/Gwinn “Angel” Scholarship Endowment Fund
February 20 - April 15, 2008
Available to direct relatives of those who were involved with the USS Indianapolis and the rescue of the survivors. Eligible applicants may include graduating seniors or full- or part-time college students.

Ida Palmer Weigand Memorial Scholarship
No Application Necessary
Leelanau County
Awarded to the Suttons Bay High School graduating seniors (male and female) with the highest ACT scores.
